about

This prelude is based on 2 chords and a small motif from Connor Ward McLean's opera, 'The Middle of Nowhere', to whom the prelude is also dedicated.

The prelude aims to evoke the barrenness and hopelessness captured in such as place as the middle of nowhere. It uses the main foundation stops of the organ, namely the strings and celestes, flutes, diapasons and 16ft/32ft pedal stops.

Recorded on 25th April 2016 in St. Martin's, Roath, Cardiff, on the 3 manual John Compton Co. Organ, played by Benjamin Teague.
